The New Threat From Islamic Militancy by Jason Burke on Orwell Prize shortlist

The New Threat From Islamic Militancy by Jason Burke has been shortlisted for The Orwell Prize, Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing. It is awarded each year to the book which comes closest to George Orwell’s ambition to ‘make political writing into an art’.

The New Threat has been widely praised for providing “the most accessible and up-to-date analysis of the development of Islamic militancy” (Guardian). “This is the book for which anyone bewildered by nature of Islamic militancy, and longing for a primer, has been waiting” (Tom Holland, Evening Standard)

The winner of the £3000 prize will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 26th May 2016.
