Century to Publish The Life Of a Scilly Sergeant by Colin Taylor
Century is proud to announce the acquisition of a new book by Sergeant Colin Taylor based on his life and police work on the Isles of Scilly. Editor Ajda Vucicevic bought World English rights in a deal struck with Tim Bates, Pollinger Ltd.
Situated, off the coast of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly are a heaven of tranquillity and idyllic beaches. Colin runs the official Facebook page for the Isles of Scilly Police and has entertained millions with stories of everyday police work, that is like ‘Heartbeat but less frenetic’. The book will chart Colin’s arrival on the island, his work keeping the streets safe and recall some of his favourite incidents on his time policing the isles of Scilly. From stories of resuscitating goldfish to dealing with drunken anchor thieves this will be a unique portrait of the island and the daily life of its inhabitants.
Ajda said ‘I am delighted to be publishing Colin’s book. He is a natural born writer, with a real eye for comedic story-telling. It promises to be a warm and charming account of life in the Scilly archipelago.’
Colin said ‘I’m overwhelmed that Century are going to commit my exploits as a Police Officer on Scilly to print.’
Century will publish in hardback and eBook in June 2016 priced £12.99 followed by a paperback edition in 2017.
