Penguin Random House UK joins Pride Parade
This year saw Penguin Random House UK's first official appearance at London Pride. Some 40 colleagues from each of our UK sites joined in, bringing along partners and friends to celebrate.
We marched alongside tens of thousands of people from the general public, community organisations, charities and other companies.
Our group started at Portland Place and followed the march route down Regent Street, through Piccadilly and ended in Trafalgar Square, handing out hundreds of branded Penguin Pride bookmarks and temporary Penguin branded tattoos along the way.
This was part of our wider summer-long Penguin Pride campaign to celebrate LGBTQ authors past, present and future.
Some of our colleagues who took part , said:
"My first London Pride and the atmosphere was euphoric, I loved every minute. Thanks everyone." – Greg Hayes, Receiving Coordinator, Rugby
"It was my first time in a Pride Parade and the atmosphere was incredible – it was so lovely being with such open-minded people celebrating diversity after everything that has been happening in the world recently." – Cat Mitchell, Vintage Publicity
"'The March of the Penguins' at London Pride 2016 summarised everything Penguin Random House stands for; equality, love, open-mindedness, acceptance, involvement. It was a really profound day full of balloons, glitter and high-5’s: the perfect remedy to a very troubling month of news!" – Olivia Thomas, Vintage Marketing
"Wow, wow, wow, the place, the people, the smiles, the colours, the atmosphere, I felt completely surrounded by love and happiness! Thank you for the chance to take part in what can only be described as an amazing honourable experience!" – Suzanna Stevens, GBS Customer Services
