Three books from VINTAGE's Bodley Head imprint on the Wellcome Book Prize Shortlist

VINTAGE's Bodley Head imprint have an impressive three titles on the Wellcome Book Prize shortlist this year.  They are: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi, The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee and I Contain Multitudes by Ed Yong.

The shortlist of six titles was revealed by Chair of Judges and celebrated Scottish crime writer Val McDermid at a press conference at the London Book Fair. The Wellcome Book Prize celebrates the topics of health and medicine in literature. It awards £30,000 each year to the winning author, and aims to stimulate interest and debate about medical science through books and reading.

The 2017 shortlist comprises four non-fiction and two fiction titles, including the first translated title (Mend the Living) and the first posthumously published title (When Breath Becomes Air) to be shortlisted for the prize.

The winner will be announced at an evening ceremony at the Wellcome Collection on 24 April 2017.
