25 nominations for Penguin Random House at the British Book Awards

The shortlists for the British Book Awards were unveiled this morning (16 March), with Penguin Random House UK receiving an incredible 25 nominations.

This includes four nods in the ‘Imprint of the Year’ category for Viking, Vintage Paperbacks, Penguin Random House Audio and Hamish Hamilton – and two in the ‘Publisher of the Year’ category for Penguin General and Vintage. Two Penguin Random House editors – Simon Prosser from Penguin General, and Frankie Gray from Transworld – have also been named in the prestigious ‘Editor of the Year’ award.

Penguin Random House marketing campaigns also have a strong showing in the ‘Marketing Strategy of the Year’ category, with the campaigns for Eskiboy (Wiley), Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls (Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo) and The Girls (Emma Cline) all making the shortlist.

In the Books of the Year category we also received 13 nods – featuring in every single category – with three of the six nominations in both the Fiction and Children’s Awards. Philip Pullman’s La Belle Sauvage: Book of Dust Volume One has been recognised in both the Children’s and the Audiobook award categories; the latter for the widely-lauded audio version narrated by Michael Sheen.

The British Book Awards, or Nibbies, honours the commercial successes of publishers, authors and bookshops. Organised by The Bookseller, the Nibbies bring together books of the year with trade accolades, with an overall book of the year chosen from category winners.

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 14th May 2018.
