A brief history of Doubleday
Doubleday, which had long been one of the most famous names in American publishing, was launched as Transworld’s second, more literary hardback imprint in 1989. The first list included A Vision of Britain by HRH Prince Charles. Authors who have been published under the imprint include Kate Atkinson, Joanne Harris and Mark Zusak. Other authors Doubleday is proud to have launched the careers of over many years include Bill Bryson, Terry Pratchett, John O’Farrell, John Boyne, John Irving, Armistead Maupin and Curtis Sittenfeld.
