Alf Proysen was born in Norway in 1914. The Mrs. Pepperpot books first appeared in the 1950's and were an immediate success. They have been loved by children ever since and have been translated into many different languages. Alf Proysen died in 1970.

Alf Proysen was born in 1914 in Norway, where he became an important figure in literature, music, television and radio. He is best remembered in the English-speaking world for his stories of Mrs Pepperpot (known as the “teaspoon lady” in his native land). The first book was released in 1956 to immediate success, and his stories have been loved by children ever since and have been translated into many different languages. He died in 1970 at the age of 56.

Mrs Pepperpot has a little problem - an enormous little problem - she shrinks! And when she does, she finds herself facing all sorts of funny situations of giant-sized proportions! But whether it's a big brown bear or a moose on the loose, clever little Mrs Pepperpot is always ready with some very big ideas.

Hilda Offen (Illustrator) Hilda Offen is a well-known picture book illustrator, who won the Smarties Prize in 1992 for Nice Work, Little Wolf. Since then she has illustrated many picture books, including Fred and Ted's Treasure Hunt. She lives in Brighton.
