In 2015, double Oscar winner Glenda Jackson made a triumphant return to acting in Radio 4's Blood, Sex and Money, a radical reimagining of Émile Zola's Rougon-Macquart cycle. Now, she reprises her role as matriarch/narrator in this eclectic mix of dramas inspired by Zola's novels, but set in modern Britain. 
 
Constance is confined to her sick bed and dying of motor neurone disease. Her body is paralysed, but her mind runs free, seeking out stories from the extended family she has long refused to acknowledge. As she delves into their lives, she uncovers dark secrets, lies and deceit. Has bad blood seeped down through the generations to corrupt them all, or is there a chink of light in the familial fault lines, where love and hope can flourish?

A major BBC Radio series charting the history of post-war Britain through the lives of Hope Kiffin, Eunice Lamming and Gloria de Soto, bound forever by one moment in 1946. 
 
London, 1946. Struggling to cope with the idea of raising her daughter in a hostile environment, African-Caribbean nurse Hope makes the difficult decision to entrust her precious baby to her best friend, Eunice, to take back home to Antigua. But their plan goes disastrously wrong. 
 
In the decades that follow, all of them will witness - and play a part in - the seismic changes rocking the British Isles, as the old establishment crumbles, immigration builds and the country adjusts to the realities of a post-war, post-colonial future. 
 
This compelling series interweaves brilliant intimate domestic stories, told from multiple perspectives, that together illuminate the emergence of modern Britain. Written by leading Black playwrights Roy Williams, Rex Obano and Winsome Pinnock, it stars Danielle Vitalis as Hope, Shiloh Coke as Eunice/Faith and Pippa Bennett-Warner as Gloria, with a full cast including Martins Imhangbe, Stefan Adegbola, Emma Handy and Hasan Dixon.

Their relationship has evolved since they were first paired up, back when Armitage was a rookie constable, but their interrogation technique is as incisive as ever. 
 
These eleven compelling dramas all shine the spotlight on a different suspect, each with their own tale to tell - and their own selective version of events. We hear from a wealth of diverse characters including Ross, a young prisoner accused of attacking a fellow inmate; Jack, a respectable writer who has been charged with shoplifting; Dan, whose wife is in hospital after a suicide attempt; and Nadine, a fellow police officer who Sean has known since childhood. As Matthews and Armitage subject them to a grilling, the truth is revealed, in all its messiness and moral complexity.

Chalk and cheese coppers Max Matthews and Sean Armitage are from different generations and different worlds, but together they make a remarkable team. In this powerful, unconventional police procedural, we join the detective duo in the interview room, as they practise their unique style of interrogation in a bid to extract a confession. 
 
These fifteen dramas all focus on a different suspect, each with their own story and version of events. Among the varied characters we hear from are Rod, a Premier League footballer accused of rape; Jermaine, a ruthless gang leader; Marc, an ex-policeman suspected of domestic violence; and Beverley, who has come into the station to report her elderly father as missing. As the details of their crimes are revealed, we get under their skin, and come to understand what motivated them to do what they did. 
 
Compelling and compassionate, these dramas probe some of today’s most troubling moral issues, inviting us to face hard truths, but holding out the possibility of redemption. Faith, Hope and Glory charts the lives of three African-Caribbean families, connected forever by the theft of a beautiful pram in Tilbury in 1946. As they live through the eighty years since then, they witness and take part in the emergence of the modern United Kingdom. 
 
Beginning in 1958 - the year of the Notting Hill race riots - these three series find our characters forced to make difficult decisions as they seek to quell their own domestic turmoil against the backdrop of increasingly febrile racial tensions. Meanwhile, a new generation begin to take their place in the rapidly changing Britain of the 1960s... 
 
This enthralling drama charts the history of post-war Britain through intimate, interwoven stories, brilliantly brought to life by leading Black playwrights Roy Williams, Rex Obano and Carol Russell.
