I can't remember the last time I cared about fictional characters desperately, as breathlessly, as I came to care about the ragged, brilliant, exhausted, beautiful, hilarious and courageous teenage protagonists of CRUX. This book is like nothing I've ever encountered before — it's an unconventional love story; an action-adventure nail-biter; a merciless portrait of Americans who live (literally) on the edge; an adrenalized, heart-stopping, stomach-lurching ride of the highest stakes. And at the center of it all beats a pure and sincere heart. I absolutely loved this book, and will never forget it

A profound and stunning book, it will make you question yourself and every one of your beliefs. Dan and Tamma have taken up residence in my head and I suspect they will be there for a very long time

To my own shortlist I can now add My Absolute Darling, by Gabriel Tallent The word masterpiece has been cheapened by too many blurbs, but My Absolute Darling absolutely is one
