Desi Kitchen

Desi Kitchen is a wonderful celebration of the fusions which have taken place between British cuisine and food traditions from all over the Indian subcontinent.

Recipes include:

- Whole roast tandoori chicken dinner (Birmingham punjabis)
- Neeps and tatties keema pie (Glaswegian Pakistanis)
- Sticky mango chicken wings (Harrow's African Indians)
- Fish tacos in thepla flatbread (Leicester's gujurati hindus)
- Kottu roti (London's Sri Lankans)
- Carrot and kale bhajis (Mancunian Bangladeshis)
- Welsh rarebit with curry oil (Welsh bengalis)

I've longed for a book like this. A map that locates and explores the culinary heritage of the diaspora of the Indian subcontinent in Britain, how its been maintained and how it's evolving to absorb other influences. A fascinating read with glorious recipes
