To celebrate the paperback of The Favourites by Layne Fargo, one of 2025's buzziest books, we're giving one lucky prize-winner the chance to win two tickets to the Figure Skating and Ice Dance at the Winter Olympics in Milan 2026 and a £500 lastminute.com voucher.

To enter the competition, simply pre-order a copy of The Favourites in paperback and fill in the form below. The winner will be required to produce proof of purchase to obtain their prize.

The winner will be responsible for booking their flights to Milan and accommodation in Milan using the £500 lastminute.com gift card. If travel and accommodation costs exceed £500 (including but not limited to any costs to and from the event in Milan), such additional costs will have to be covered solely by the winner. The winners are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas or other travel documentation.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. By entering this prize draw, you agree to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions. All entry instructions form part of the terms & conditions of this prize draw.
  2. This prize draw is open to anyone aged 18 or over who is a resident of the UK, except for employees of the promoter, its group companies, its subsidiary companies, their families and any other company connected with the prize draw.
  3. Entries must be received by 23:59, 10 September 2025. Entries that are illegible, incomplete, corrupted or which fail to be received by the closing date for any reason, will not be counted. The promoter is not responsible for entries delayed or lost in the post. Automatically generated entries or entries via agents or third parties are invalid and shall not be counted. [Entries shall not be returned.]
  4. Only one entry per person. No entrant may win more than one prize.
  5. To enter send your proof of pre-order of the paperback of THE FAVOURITES ISBN 9781529927337 to mzielinski@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. A proof of purchase is a pre-order receipt or invoice from any UK book shop including independent retailers, Waterstones, Amazon, WHSmith and supermarkets. Please do not include any banking or card details with your proof of purchase.
  6. All correctly completed entries will be entered into a prize draw which will take place on 12 September. The first one entry drawn at random by an independent person will be the winner.
  7. The prize is a £500 gift card for lastminute.com (lastminute.com Terms and Conditions - Reward Me Now) and two Category B, Full Price – Standard tickets for Olympic Figure Skating in the Milano Ice Skating Arena, Milano on Saturday, 7 February 2026 at 19:45 (OFSK02 Team Event Men's Short Program + Ice Dance Free Dance). The winner will be responsible for booking their flights to Milan and accommodation in Milan using the £500 lastminute.com gift card. If travel and accommodation costs exceed £500 (including but not limited to any costs to and from the event in Milan), such additional costs will have to be covered solely by the winner. The winners are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas or other travel documentation. The promoter will purchase the Lastminute.com gift card and Olympic tickets for the winner. This competition is not affiliated with or sponsored by Lastminute.com or the Olympics in any way.
  8. All travelling dates and time are subject to availability. In the event that you cannot make these dates, no alternative dates will be possible and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to a substitute winner.
  9. The prize is non-transferrable and no cash alternative will be offered.
  10. Events may occur which render the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the promoter and the promoter may, at its absolute discretion, vary, amend, suspend or withdraw the prize with or without notice.
  11. The winner will be notified via email or post within 28 days of the closing date (i.e. by 9 October 2025). The winner must claim their prize within 30 days of the promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.
  12. Other than those specified above, the promoter shall not be liable for any costs or expenses arising out of or in any way connected with this prize and does not accept any responsibility for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by the winner as result of accepting this prize.
  13. By entering this competition, all entrants agree to the use of their personal data by the Promoter for the purposes of running the competition as detailed in these terms and conditions. Details on how we process the personal data of entrants can be found in our Privacy Policy.
  14. We will make the winner’s name and county available on request to the following email address: mzielinski@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk (please state the name of the competition in the subject heading 10 weeks after the closing date). If you do not want your name and county to be made available in the event that you win, please let us know by emailing mzielinski@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. Please note we are required to make the winner’s details available to the ASA if requested.
  15. Promoter may disqualify any entrant whose entry does not comply with these terms and conditions (in promoter’s sole opinion) or who, in promoter’s sole determination, has acted in a manner that is fraudulent, dishonest or unjust to other entrants including, without limitation, tampering with the operation of the competition, manipulating or rigging votes, hacking, deceiving, [using multiple accounts to submit multiple entries,] cheating or by harassing or threatening other entrants, the panel or a representative of promoter
  16. The promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to the competition.
  17. These terms and conditions are subject to English Law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
